Condolence From: Nancy Saunders Herget
Condolence: Jackie and I went through elementary, junior
and high school together. He was sort of shy, nice looking and very much a gentleman, I asked him recently if he was still as good looking as he was in high school....he just laughed it off.
After high school we parted ways and I had searched for him on Facebook many times until one day I came across the name Kelly Yates and asked if she knew Jack Yates and she got back to me saying "that's my dad." So Jackie and I started our friendship back again.
Phone calls were made back and forth and I would send him pictures of people and friends we knew back in our day. He said he enjoyed reading the letters that I sent.
Jackie and I came from the same hometown Handley, West Virginia a railroad town on the banks of the Kanawha River. Jackie probably learned much of his swimming skills in that river along with my cousins, the Gatens boys.
We recently attended the Grey family reunion in South Bend, a family also that Jackie knew from Handley, and we asked him to go along but he wasn't well enough and I was hoping after all these years to see Jackie.

Jackie spoke of his love for his family and church so I know he is in Heaven.....he had God in his heart......so Jackie, my friend sorry we had to part so soon and I leave you with the 23rd Psalm......the Lord is my shepherd....
