Obituary for Paul M. "Mick" Thiel
Paul "Mick" M. Thiel, 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior August 4, 2018 in Fort Wayne. He was born in Fort Wayne to the late Cloyce and Mary Thiel, attending North Side High School, graduating from Leo High School, and was active in athletics. Mick began his career working for International Harvester and later owned his own expediting company. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Mick was a member of Blackhawk Ministries and was deeply committed to his faith. He was a local bass fishing legend and the founder of Three Rivers Bass Casters. Mick enjoyed coaching P.A.L. basketball and football, and Holy Cross Little League. Most of all, he enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. Mick is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diana Thiel of Fort Wayne; 4 children, Michael "Mick" (Amanda) Thiel of Fort Wayne, Steve (Sheila) Thiel of Fishers, IN, Sarah (Clint) Wisniewski of Fort Wayne, and Pete (Lisa) Thiel of Defiance, OH; 13 grandchildren; brothers, Tom Thiel of Fort Wayne, and Jim (Ruth) Thiel of San Bruno, CA; and many nieces and nephews. Mick was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Thiel. Services are 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Blackhawk Ministries, 7400 E. State Blvd, with calling one hour prior. Calling also Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
