Obituary for Marqueena "Marquie" Chalmers

Marqueena "Marquie"  Chalmers
Marqueena K. Chalmers (born May 20, 1948) passed away on February 3, 2017 at Parkview Hospital. Marquie was a breast cancer survivor and an avid participant in the annual March to Cure Breast Cancer. After earning her Bachelor's degree from Ball State University in Deaf Education, Marquie had a storied career in helping people in need, including work as a deaf education teacher, and work at Anthony Wayne Services, the Indiana State Development Center, North American Van Lines and Parkview Hospital.

Marquie is survived by her four children--Andrea (Charlie) Wylie, Benjamin (Hiroko) Cole, Gregory (Sheila) Chalmers-Mahathy and Suzanne Kiefer--five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by six brothers and three sisters (Terry, Bob, John, Liz, Greg, Kathy, Steve, Tim, and Theresa). She is preceded in death by her father (Ted), mother (Ruth), and baby brother (Nick).

A lifelong Beatles fan, Marquie is asking those who touched her life to "Come together. Right now. Over her...." Memorial service will be held at FairHaven Funeral Home, 6557 North Clinton St., Ft. Wayne, IN 46825 on Tuesday, February 7, at 10:30am with calling starting at 9:00am.

In leui of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research.
