Obituary for Willi Breuning

Willi Breuning, age 88, of Fort Wayne passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023. He was born in Ravensburg, Germany to the late Wilhelm and Carolina Breuning as the oldest of four children. Willi came to America in 1956 with a goal to earn enough money to buy a Volkswagen and go back home. Instead, he stayed and made a life with his wife, Alice and two children. Willi served in the US Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA during the Berlin Crisis. In his early years Willi was active in the Fort Wayne Mannerchor and Fort Wayne Sport Club. Willi's dream to own his own tool and die shop was realized in 1979 with the creation of MRS International, a company that specialized in the design and production of electric motor stator winding equipment. Willi held several patents for electric motor design. His business travels generated hundreds of friends all over the world and ensured regular visits to his beloved Schwabisch homeland. Willi and Ilene enjoyed their second home in the Smoky Mountains because it was reminiscent of his hometown in Schwabisch Alb. Willi will be missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Ilene Breuning; son, Tim (Beth) Breuning; daughter, Christine (Perry) Morgan; step-daughter, Nicole (Rob) Hines; two grandchildren; sister, Ursula Boss; and 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Willi was also preceded in death by siblings, Wolfgang Breuning and Gertrude Jager; and daughter-in-law, Terita Breuning. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
