Stephen Edward Scherschel, 70, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Stephen was the son of the late Martin and Velma Scherschel. Stephen served our country as a Vietnam Army veteran. During his services, Stephen earned multiple campaign medals including the Purple Heart. Stephen enjoyed fishing, camping, just being outdoors made him happy. He was always fixing something around the house. He was a member of the New Haven United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Scherschel; daughter, Angie Scherschel; siblings, Rosie (Bernie) Spieth, Robert (Pam) Scherschel, Marita (John) Vonderau, Richard Scherschel, Pat (Jack) Bouse, Cathy Walters, Kevin (Penny) Scherschel, Edward (Laura) Scherschel; brother in law, Merle Doster; sister in law, Sue (Alan) Cole; niece, Jennifer (Chris) Delagrange; great nephew, Keaton Delagrange; great niece Kennedy Delagrange; along with many other nieces and nephews. Stephen was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Doster; brother, Thomas Scherschel; sister in law, Sue Scherschel; and nephew, Jason Cole. Service is 3 pm, Friday, November 30, 2018 at New Haven United Methodist Church with calling from 1 pm until the service. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Cancer Services of NE Indiana or Allen County SPCA. FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.
