Obituary for Rev. Stanley A. Inniger

Rev. Stanley Alan Inniger, 78, went to be with His Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 1, 2021. He was born in Berne, Indiana, on November 21, 1942, to Homer and Lillie (Templin) Inniger. He was blessed to be born and raised in a Christian home, and they attended First Missionary Church of Berne. While he was young Stan accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was so happy when at 4 years of age he got a baby sister, Catharine Rose. He enjoyed sports and in Little League played baseball for the Yager Yankees. He enjoyed playing basketball in high school for the Berne Bears. Stan was a graduate in 1960 of Berne-French High School in Berne.
Stan attended Taylor University for 1 year, after which he returned home to work for a couple of years. In 1963 he went to Fort Wayne Bible College and graduated in 1967. During those years he worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne. He enjoyed playing basketball for the FWBC Ambassadors. While at FWBC he met Rebecca Goldsmith who became the love of his life. He later attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School near Chicago, Illinois.
Stan married Rebecca Goldsmith at the Pettisville Missionary Church in Pettisville, Ohio, on August 5, 1967. He and Becky moved to near Detroit, Michigan, where they served their missionary internship. Their first pastorate was at Bureau Township Community Church near Princeton, Illinois. While there Stan was ordained in 1969 as a minister in the Missionary Church USA. In 1972 Stan and Becky went to Costa Rica, Central America, for a year of language training in Spanish. They went in 1973 to the Dominican Republic, where they served for 7 years.
Back in the US he pastored at Fellowship Bible Church near Brown City, Michigan, then Curdes Avenue Missionary Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Berea Missionary Church in Shipshewana, Indiana. Following the call to missions again, Stan and Becky then served as missionaries in Dublin, Ireland, beginning in 2005. They returned to the US in 2011 and retired to Fort Wayne. They attended Northside Missionary Church, where Stan served as a Sunday School teacher and an elder.
Stan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Becky and their three children: Sara (Rev. Kent) Scantlin and Benjamin (Jessica) Inniger, both of Fort Wayne, and Suzanne (Shane) Conover of Gary, Indiana. Stan is also survived by his sister, Cathy (Rev. Max) Haines of Berne, Indiana.
Also surviving are his dear grandchildren; Andrew (Brittany) Scantlin, Caty (Payton) Chitwood, Anna, Luke, and Callie Scantlin, and Azariah and Sydney Inniger, all of Fort Wayne, as well as Noah and Jacob Conover of Gary, Indiana, and one great-grandchild, Finnley Scantlin of Fort Wayne.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Lillie (Templin) Inniger.
Service is 10:30 am, Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Northside Missionary Church, 736 Lillian Ave., with calling one hour prior. Calling also 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. Burial at MRE Cemetery of Berne, IN.
