Obituary for Sheila Louise Snyder (Biederman)

Sheila Louise Snyder, 61, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at her home in Roanoke, IN.

Sheila was born in Janesville, WI on January 13, 1963 to William Lloyd Biederman and Esther Louise Biederman. In her high school years, Sheila was an accomplished gymnast and traveled to Romania in 1977 to train with world-class athletes. The following year she won the Wisconsin State Gymnastics Championship. Sheila began her career at General Motors on the assembly line in 1985. After transferring to the Fort Wayne plant, she was one of the first women to receive an apprenticeship in skilled trades and went on to work as an electrician for GM until she retired in 2021.

Sheila was an incredibly selfless and generous soul. She often volunteered her time and resources to help others, which included delivering groceries for the local food bank and helping her neighbors with yardwork. Sheila had a magnetic and lively personality, often making friends within minutes of meeting someone new. Being an avid adventurer, Sheila was fond of traveling, zip lining, snorkeling, skydiving, and other thrill-seeking activities. Nothing was more important to her than spending time with friends and family, whether it was playing cards, trying new restaurants, or going to Lambeau Field to cheer on the Packers. In her later years, she often spent time hiking with her beloved dog, Lucy, at the local nature preserve.

Sheila was preceded in death by her mother, Esther Biederman. She is survived by her father, William Lloyd Biderman; sisters, Shelley (Daniel) Linehan, Cindy Rhodes; children, Keldon (Carolynn) Snyder, Danielle (Cody) Buob, Eric (Amy) Snyder; grandchildren, Lucas, Wesley, Stella; nieces and nephews, Keegan Linehan, Cydney Linehan, Andrew Rhodes, Esa Rhodes, Gabriel Rhodes, Ryan Krause, and Briana Krause.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Wednesday, February 21st from 2-4 pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street in Fort Wayne. A private service for family and closest friends will take place at a later time.
