Obituary for Sara Kroh (Casey)

Sara Casey Kroh, 89, died Thursday, January 10, 2019. Sara had been living in Fort Wayne at the TowneHouse Retirement Center for the last two years. Sara lived and raised her family in Syracuse, Ind. She was married to her husband, Charles F. (Jim) Kroh for 69 years. She was born in Huntington, Ind., to the late Dr. Stanley M. and Zada Casey.

Sara was one of four sisters: Martha Boleman, Suzanne Cronin and the late Mary Culp. She attended Huntington High School and Indiana University where she received a Masters degree in Education. Sara taught at the Syracuse Elementary School for 20 years. She was a member of the Syracuse United Methodist Church and had been a past Kosciusko County Red Cross Blood Drive Chairman.

Sara and Jim had four children: the late Dr. Charles Casey Kroh (Lucia); Carol Kroh Gale (Bob);
Stanley E. Kroh (Dawn); Laura Kroh LaRocque (Ed). Nine grandchildren: Charles Casey Kroh, Jr., Eric Kroh (Rachel), Evan Kroh (Sherry), Alex Kroh (Beth), Christina Gale (Alex), Robert C. Gale, Jessica Gale (Eric), Lucas Kroh and Marguerite Kroh. Three great-grandchildren: Harlee Meuy Kroh, Lucas Kroh and Dexter Kroh.

Sara’s family was her pride and joy. She loved to see everyone together, especially during the famous family reunions every 4th of July at the lake.

A celebration of Sara’s life will be held in the Spring.
