Obituary for Ruth A.L. Herb (Ulmer)
Ruth A L Herb, 94 of Fort Wayne IN, passed away Tuesday January 17 th, 2023 at Golden Years Homestead. She was a graduate of Concordia High school.
She enrolled at Valparaiso University and graduated with a bachelor degree in dietetics and met her future GI husband Ralph Herb. After graduation she was employed by Indiana Michigan Power in the purchasing department in Fort Wayne IN. She then became a domestic engineer raising four sons, the last two were twins, Daniel and David. Later in life she returned to the workforce for 11 years as the lunch room manager at St Paul’s Lutheran School before retirement. She was a lifetime member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was served on various church committees, Ladies Aid, and Golden Heirs. Ruth was known as a very giving person and an excellent cook.
Survived are four sons Mark (Dia), Philip (Barb), David (Peggy) of Fort Wayne and Daniel (Bernice) of Middletown, OH. 10 Grandchildren Karl (Michelle) Herb, Kayleen Herb, Kathryn (Andrew) Lehman, Nathan (Aleesha) Herb, Christina (James) Alliger, Tabetha (Adam) Westrick, Alicia (Ben) Hosinski, Blake Herb, Lydia Herb, Caleb Herb and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 28th at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1126 S. Barr Street, Fort Wayne IN, at 11:00 am, with viewing from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial will take place in Old Concordia Cemetery.
