Roger Alan Hoevel, 73, of Fort Wayne, passed away unexpectedly while playing his last round of golf on Friday, September 15, 2023. Roger, the son of the late Harold and Virginia (McCormick) Hoevel, graduated from North Side High School in 1968 and earned his Bachelor's degree in Education from Arizona State University in 1972. Roger first met the love of his life, Gloria Fryer, in 7th grade homeroom. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage, building a life and family together. Roger established Hoevel Real Estate and served others as an appraiser and broker for over 25 years. His passion for educating others was shown during his many years coaching little league baseball. After the ball field, Roger could be found with his buddies on the golf course, earning 7 holes-in-one over the years. The only thing keeping him off the course was spending time with his grandchildren. Roger was a 56-year blood donor with the American Red Cross and rarely missed a chance to donate. Surviving are his wife, Gloria Hoevel; children Jacque (Blake) Miller; Ryan (Angie) Hoevel; grandchildren Wesley Miller, Kaylee Miller, Jillian Hoevel, and Mallory Hoevel; aunt and second mother Thelma "Jan" Voirol; and sister Karen Hoevel. Private services will be taking place. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross. Fair Haven Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling arrangements.
