Obituary for Roger Clayton Detamore

Roger Clayton Detamore, 93, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Born in Huntington County, Indiana, Roger was the son of the late Ralph and Lesta (Smith) Detamore. Roger graduated from Jefferson Center High School. He served our nation proudly, while in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Roger started his working career as a farmer for 10 years till 1966. He then became a greens superintendent for several golf courses over the years including Arbor Trace (formerly Harts), Deer Track and Chestnut Hills. He was still mowing fairways at 85 years of age. Roger was a man of steadfast faith, was a faithful member of Bethel Ministries and loved his family with his whole heart. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, rooting for Purdue Basketball, watching every Cubs games and cheering on the Chicago Bears. Roger also enjoyed collecting John Deere Models, and horse figurines. Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Margaret (Sell) Detamore; children, Jeff (Judy) Detamore, Kathryn (Tim) Brodbeck, Jayne (Tom) Barnes; 7 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Roger was preceded in death by his son, John Detamore; and sisters, Barbara Hart and Doris Rupel. Service is 4 pm, Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Bethel Ministries, 8405 Lima Road, with calling from 2 pm until the services. Private Family Burial will take place Monday, November 27, 2023 at Gardens of Memories in Marion. Memorials may be made Bethel Ministries or United Way of Grant County.
