Robert James Haverstick (Bob), age 83, has a new address as of July 30, 2022: Heaven, in care of Jesus Christ. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his loving family.
Bob graduated from Central High School, Fort Wayne in 1957, attended Purdue, and went on to an apprenticeship in electromechanical drafting at Magnavox. He proudly served in the US Air Force (Strategic Air Command) during the Vietnam War. Upon discharge from the USAF he worked for Magnavox and ITT. He then spent the majority of his career as a mechanical engineer, designing cabover trucks for International Harvester / Navistar from which he retired after 32 years.
Bob and Mary have been faithful members of Blackhawk Ministries for over twenty years. After his Savior and his family, he loved woodworking, flying, sailing, as well as raising, riding, and showing his Rocky Mountain horses.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60+ years, Mary. Together they raised three children: Jon, Robin (Snyder), and Jennifer. He adored his grandchildren: Megan Springer (Luke), Samantha Haas (David), Caitlin Haverstick, Conner Haverstick, Olivia Snyder, and seven great-grandchildren: Christian, Isabella, Reagan, William, Lincoln, Henry, and Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Laotta, his siblings, Arlene, George Jr. and Calvin, as well as son-in-law Stephen Snyder.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, August 4 between 5pm-9pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 am, Friday August 5th at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne. Pastor Kevin Rivers, officiant.
