Obituary for Richard David Spice

Rick Spice, 79, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at his home. He was born to the late Charles Jr and Frances (Roberson) Spice on June 12, 1943 in Fort Wayne. He graduated from Huntertown High School in 1961. He married Jane Oldfather on September 10, 1966. Rick served honorably in the United States Air Force. Rick worked in the trucking industry for over 40 years before retiring in 2015 from Brothers Express. He was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. Rick was an avid sports fan including the Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Reds and NASCAR. He loved his family dearly.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jane; children, Chuck (Cassie) Spice of Lompoc, CA, Rich (Christi) Spice of Roanoke, VA, Cindy Spice of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Ty (Mariane Rodriguez) Sumners, Kaylee (Sean) Collins, Kristina Spice, Megan (Robbie Frede) Spice, Walker (Briahna Agosto) Hendricks, Jordan Spice, Preston (Ginger Howe) Hendricks, Malyna Spice, Olivia Hendricks, Zane Spice, and Logan Rambow; great-grandchildren, Charlie Frede, Grayson Frede, Graham Hendricks and one on-the-way; sister, Carol (Greg) Postel of Grabill, IN; and a host of relatives and friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Wise and sister-in-law, Susie Wise and several other in-laws.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church (7308 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46835) at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be on Friday, October 7, 2022 at the church from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Burial will take place at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church.
