Obituary for Rebecca Alice Windmiller (Borden)

Rebecca A. Windmiller, 70, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Cleveland Clinic after a heroic battle with cancer. Rebecca was born in Columbia City on August 23, 1952 a daughter of the late Garland and Marian (Fox) Borden. Rebecca earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Francis in Education and her master’s degree from Indiana University in Education. During her working years, Rebecca taught for St. Joseph Catholic School in Decatur, St. John the Baptist in Fort Wayne, SWAC Schools as a substitute teacher, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton as a teachers assistant and was a tutor. Rebecca was so passionate about spending time with her family, keeping her home in “Rebecca order”, was simple, quiet, but the most caring individual and “best wife, mom, and sister” anyone could ask for. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Gary Windmiller; children, David Windmiller, Sarah (James) Anderson; siblings, James Borden, and Margaret (Carter) Bishop. Rebecca was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Kinerk. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 am, Friday, July 7, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 3 pm to 7 pm with a rosary service at 3 pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street. Entombment in Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the University of Saint Francis.
