Obituary for Philip Anthony Rizzo Sr.

Philip Rizzo Sr, 96, passed away peacefully at his home on December 9, 2020. Philip was especially proud of his service as a Veteran of WWII. He served in the Army's 159th Infantry 106th Division which received the EAME Theater Ribbon w/ 3 Bronze Stars. Philip was a barber at Nick's Barber Shop his whole life and well into his eighties still cut hair for Veteran's only. He wore his WWII hat proudly everyday in his later years. Philip loved and adored his children and was so proud of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He made us laugh and smile every day and he truly appreciated our love and care for him. Philip and his wife, Helen of 59 years traveled the world until her passing in 2002. He always especially enjoyed Las Vegas and continued visiting until the last couple of years. A sweet and loving man who was adored by many is survived by his children, Gloria (Marland) Myers, Barbara (Gary) Baus, Nicholas (Deborah) Rizzo, Elaine (George) Petersen, Philip Rizzo Jr., and Barry Rizzo; brother, Samuel (Mary) Rizzo; and sisters, Carmella Leto and Mary Tyler. Due to COVID-19 a private family service will be held with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shepherd's House.
