Obituary for Owen Andrew Scheele
Owen Andrew Scheele, age 17, of Huntertown, Indiana passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. He was born in Fort Wayne to Stephanie and Jason Scheele. Owen had just completed his junior year at Carroll High School and was looking forward to being a senior. Owen was passionate about sports. He played travel baseball for 8 years and enjoyed basketball and golf. Football was Owen’s first love. He was proud to be a member of the Carroll Football Team and also enjoyed playing 7 on 7 football with his team at OPS. Owen was also active at Pathway Community Church in the Youth Group and volunteering in Kid City. Some of Owen’s best memories were formed at Youth retreats with his friends. Owen’s smile was contagious, and his infectious personality made an impact on everyone he met. Those that spent any time with Owen knew how much his faith meant to him. His love for Christ was evident in his interactions with those around him, and he continually challenged others to love more deeply and live more intentionally.
Owen is survived by his four siblings, Gavin, Griffin, Harrison, and Emerson; maternal grandparents, Sharon and Ron Long of Fort Wayne; paternal grandparents, Jayne and Roger Scheele of Fort Wayne; uncles and aunts, Jennifer and Scott Mabee and Melissa and Nathan Scheele; and cousins, Chloe, Elsie, Mikenson, and James.
A service to celebrate Owen’s life is at 11:00 am on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Pathway Community Church, 1010 Carroll Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46845, with calling one hour prior. Calling also on Sunday, June 12, 2022, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Pathway Community Church. Burial at Huntertown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the Scheele family is organizing a foundation in Owen’s name so that he may continue to touch lives in our community for years to come. Contributions may be made to the Owen Scheele Memorial Fund directed to Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N.
