Nyle G. “Sonny” Elmer, 89, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Sonny was a son of the late John and Alta (Jahn) Elmer. Nyle attended Central High School. He joined the U.S. Army and served as a medic. Sonny worked for International Harvester for 30 years, prior to his retirement. He married his wife Marciel and enjoyed 47 years of marriage together. They enjoyed spending time at their lake home and wintering in Florida for many years. Sonny enjoyed tinkering around in his garage and became his families “Mr. Fix It.” He enjoyed helping his family with their projects and spending time with family was a priority. Surviving are his wife, Marciel Elmer; daughters, Laura (George) Settles, Kathleen (Nelson) Gonzalez, Karen Brown, Sandra (Mike) Pulver, Rhonda (Bob) Happ; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Sonny was preceded in death by his siblings. A Private Family Service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Gestsemane Lutheran Church.
