Obituary for Michael Joseph Lynch

Michael Joseph “Mike” Lynch, age 77, of Fort Wayne, passed away on October 4, 2018, with his family by his side after a heart disease, and short illness due to cancer. He was born on October 4, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Joseph Michael and Rose Lynch. Mike Lynch proudly and diligently served as a member of the United States Army as a Paratrooper of the 101st Airborne from 1958 to 1963. He worked at International Harvester ("IH")/Navistar for 30 years, retiring in 1994. During his tenure with IH, he was a dedicated member of the UAW and served as a Union Steward. In that capacity, he fulfilled the role as an advocate to union member and dedicated his time to helping those in need and as a result, made many cherished friends. Mike was also a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion. He is survived by his sister, MaryAnn (Dominic) Canino; children, Susan Lynch Hicks, Sandra (Cory) East, Michael Daniel (Paula) Lynch. He also leaves behind his devoted grandchildren, Thomas Michael Chew, Kaleigh Dianna East and Joseph Hunter East, and Candice, Ashley and Anthony. Michael is preceded in death by his wife, Dianna Jean (Moore) Lynch; and son, Joseph Michael Lynch II. Calling will be at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton, Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 2 pm to 5 pm. Calling will also be held at Washington Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery in Indianapolis, 10722 E Washington St, Monday from 1 pm to 2 pm with burial to follow in the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
