Mary Lou Werling, 83, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Hoagland, Indiana to the late Otto and Edith (Scheimann) Krauss. Mary was united in marriage to Vern Werling on June 22, 1963. She was a devoted wife, homemaker, loving mother and grandmother to her family. Mary cleaned homes and was a server with Goeglein’s Catering for over 30 years. She was an active member of her church, her family's biggest supporter, with Vern by her side, regardless of the activity or the weather, enjoyed visiting with friends, playing cards, making puzzles and baking. She was always willing to help others and this showed with her love to sew by donating many blankets to local charities. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Vern Werling; children, Bruce (Larissa) Werling, Matt (Cathy) Werling, Sara (Brian) Kitzmiller; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; siblings, Helen Kuenneth, Art (June) Krauss, Edward (Janet) Krauss, and Kenneth (Jeanie) Krauss. Mary was preceded in death by her son, Brent Werling; siblings, Mildred Krauss, Eileen Wells, and Don Krauss. Service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, February 26, 2022 with visitation 1 hour prior at St. Paul Lutheran Church (Gar Creek), 1910 N. Berthaud Road New Haven. Visitation will also be held Friday, February 25, 2022 at church from 3-5pm and 6-8pm. Memorial may be made to Central Lutheran School Building Fund, Charis House, or The Arthritis Foundation.
