Obituary for Martha Jane Shinn (Pope)

Martha Jane Shinn, 77, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Sunday, October 28, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Beaumont, Texas, Martha was the daughter of the late James and Nancy Pope. She was a business teacher at Carthage Senior High School in Missouri for 25 years prior to her retirement. Following retirement, she served as the secretary for 9 years at the former First Assembly of God Church, now called Grace Pointe in Carthage, Missouri. She enjoyed reading, sewing, watching soccer, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Steward Shinn; sons, Blake (Erin) Shinn, Courtney (Angie) Shinn; and seven grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah Gaddy, Mary Lou Pfankuch, and DeVern Catron. Service will be 11 am, Friday, November 2, 2018 at First Assembly of God Church with calling one hour prior. Calling will be at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 4 pm to 8 pm. Burial in Riverview Cemetery, Churubusco, Indiana. Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God Missions Fund.
