Obituary for Lydia Ann Doerschler (Dunham)

Lydia Ann (Dunham) Doerschler, 81, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020 at Golden Years Homestead. She was born on January 7, 1939, in Haviland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles W. and Laura (Schlatter) Dunham. She married John H. Doerschler in 1973 of Kalamazoo, Michigan who preceded her in death. Lydia was a 1957 graduate of Blue Creek Local School in Haviland, Ohio and a 1960 graduate of Parkview School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Lydia was dedicated all her life to nursing and worked at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI, Kingston Care Center, Parnell Park Nursing Home, Summit Nursing Home and The Cedars Nursing Home in Leo, before a stroke in 1996 ended her working career. Lydia was baptized in 1977 in the Evangelical Christian Church in Fort Wayne. Surviving are her son, John H. Doerschler II; grandson, Nicholas Embree; siblings, Dale (LaBeth) of Grand Rapids, MI, Elizabeth Dunham, of Fort Wayne, Charles (Debra) Dunham Jr., of Payne, Ohio, Byron (Jody) Dunham, of New Haven, Indiana; aunt, Josephine (Don) Wenninger of Paulding, Ohio; sister-in-law, Opal Dunham of Van Wert, Ohio; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lydia was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Dunham. Service is 10:30 am, Monday, October 5, 2020 at FairHaven Funeral Home, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling one hour prior. Calling also Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the funeral home from 4 pm to 7 pm. Burial in Bower Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice.
