LINDA MARIE NYCUM, age 73, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020. Linda was born in Rockville Centre, New York on January 17, 1947 and was raised in Cecil, Ohio. After graduating from Paulding High School she moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. After a brief time in San Diego, California, Linda proudly worked at General Electric Fort Wayne in customer service for 33 years, until taking early retirement. While working at GE, she also earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Linda’s beautiful smile lit up every room she walked into. She absolutely loved travel, especially international travel, and was able to enjoy many experiences in the world’s great cities and tropical islands. She truly loved life and new adventures, from rollerblading by a California beach to snorkeling in the Caribbean to exploring Paris nightlife, her favorite city. Her happiness showed. Linda radiated a perceptible air of charm. Everyone wanted to meet Linda. She enjoyed the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Civic Theatre, fine dining, and live performances, especially music and plays. Linda really enjoyed summer weekends at the lake cottage, surrounded by nature, seeing beautiful sunsets, boating, and the traditional Saturday night steaks on the outdoor grill with a glass of cabernet. Linda’s dazzling beauty captured the eye and heart of Jeff Dellinger of Fort Wayne, Indiana, with whom she shared the last 24 years of her life. Jeff simply adores Linda and wishes that, even if only once, everyone can experience such a deep and profound mutual love in their lives.
I built a tiny garden
In a corner of my heart
I kept it just for lovely things
And bade all else depart
And ever was there music
And flowers blossomed fair;
And never was it perfect
Until you entered there
Linda’s thoughtfulness, helpfulness, and tenderness brought happiness to many others, especially her family, whether organizing her annual summer family reunion at the lake cottage or her annual December holiday party or teaching her granddaughter to read and taking her to the zoo. While Linda left us unexpectedly and way too soon with many planned adventures yet to come, those of us who had the privilege of knowing her and being with her will forever cherish the beautiful woman she was, the love she brought into our lives, and the wonderful, warm memories she created for us. When Linda smiled at you, there was no greater feeling in the world. And there is comfort for those of us who love her that she truly enjoyed life, was happy, and felt fulfilled. One more angel in heaven. And the prettiest one. Linda is survived by her love, Jeff Dellinger; sons John and Brian; siblings Robert, Stuart, Keith, Kenneth, Sherri, Peter, and half-sister Billie; grandchildren Ivan, Nina, Doyle, and Lux; and great-grandson Wyatt. Linda was preceded in death by her parents Robert Glassey and Ethelyn Glassey Sigler, sister Karen (Doug) Winebrenner, and her half-brother, Joel. Due to COVID-19 a private family service is being held at this time. A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be held at a later date once everyone is allowed to attend. FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.
