Obituary for Koula John Stavretis (Stavretis)

Koula "Vasiliki" J. Stavretis, age 60, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at her home in Fort Wayne. She was born in Fort Wayne to the late Ioannis "John" and Alexandra Stavretis. Koula worked locally in retail, most recently at J.C. Penney. She will be remembered for her warm smile, infectious laughter, and the kindness and generosity she showed to others. Koula loved taking family photos, baking her favorite Greek pastries, enjoying time with her niece and nephews; and most of all displaying her unwavering love to family. She is survived by her loving twin-sister, Mary Stavretis of Fort Wayne; loving brothers, Bill (Susan) Stavretis, Pete (Evangeline) Stavretis both of Fort Wayne; uncle and aunt, Tom and Blanche Stavretis; niece and nephews, Shelby (Sam), Yanni (Rebekah), Alexander, Yiorgo, Niko, llias, and Maksimos; and many other relatives in Greece, Canada, and the United States. Koula was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Vasilios and Vasiliki Stavretis and maternal grandparents, Pandelis and Arhonda Karamitanis. Service is 10:00 am, Friday, February 17, 2023 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 110 E. Wallen Rd. with calling one hour prior and Fr. Cosmin Sicoe officiating. Calling also 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the church. A Trisagion Prayer Service will be Thursday at 7:00 pm. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Her mother and Koula's favorite birthday phrase was, "Till you're hundred."
