Klaus D. Rode, 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 in Fort Wayne. Born in Germany, Klaus was a son of the late Julius and Terese Rode. Klaus was a graduate of New Haven High School and Indiana-Purdue University in Fort Wayne. He worked at B.F. Goodrich and retired as an engineer from Cooper Standard Automotive. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne Sports Club, American Legion, and Elks. His favorite thing in life was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, and gardening. His loving and humorous nature will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Klaus is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Brigitte (Adam) Barb, (Marcus), Aaron (Nicole); sister, Anne (Paul); grandchildren, Olivia (Israel), Jackson, Carter, Chase, Cole, Zoe; Ava; great-grandson, Julian; and many nieces and nephews. Klaus was preceded in death by his sister, Alma, and brother, Walter. Service is 11 am, Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd, with calling from 9 am until the service. Burial in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
