Obituary for John Thomas Singleton Jr.
John Thomas Singleton Jr., age 76 died peacefully at home while surrounded by family on December 30, 2022. John was born in Monticello, Arkansas to John T. Singleton Sr. and Ladell Swindell. He graduated from Joplin High School prior to enlisting in the Army. He was proud to serve his country and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After leaving the Army John relocated with his wife and daughter to Fort Wayne Indiana to work for GTE. He retired from Verizon after 28 years of dedicated service. John enjoyed participating in a variety of sports including baseball, martial arts, bowling and golf. He was also a diehard Colts and IU fan. John was a man of faith and enjoyed reading his bible daily.
John was proceeded in death by his mother Ladell Swindell and sister Mary Singleton-Parker. He is survived by his wife V. Ann Singleton, children John T. Singleton III, Sonya Singleton, Christine Singleton and Christopher Singleton, sisters Elizabeth Singleton, Phyllis Harris, Melissa Swindell and Yvonne McBrayer, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 5:00 pm at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46825) with visitation beginning at 3:00 pm until the time of service.
