Obituary for Pastor John Hamer

Pastor John Hamer, 78, of Fort Wayne, was given the crown of everlasting glory on January 4, 2023, having passed away from Multiple System Atrophy. After receiving his B.S. and M.A. from BSU where he was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, he taught band for 12 years before answering God's call to the Holy Ministry. Later, he graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, and served St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 40 years. John enjoyed compiling his book of sermons, "Saved by Grace Alone". His hobbies included model railroading, backyard astronomy, and delighting in symphonic music. John cherished spending time with his beloved family. Awaiting a blessed reunion before the Lamb are his wife of 57 years, Gloria; daughter, Amy; son, Rev. Brian (Jen); granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Emma; brother, Martin (Ann); stepsister, Judy Clark; several nieces and nephews. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints". Service is 11:00 am, Monday, January 9, 2023 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1126 S. Barr St., with calling beginning at 9:30 am. Burial at Concordia Cemetery Gardens.
