Debbie and I were so sorry to hear this news about John. We have fond memories of all the Fulkerson family from when John was little and lived across the street from us on Tacoma Avenue in Fort Wayne. Our thoughts, prayers and sympathies are with all the family.

I have a lot of great memories with John during and after college. As a couple of baseball nerds, we road tripped to Cooperstown NY to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in the Fall of our senior year in college. Then we road tripped to Florida to watch Spring training during spring break of that same year (with Scott Richards). John had an encyclopedic knowledge of baseball that always impressed me. John was also a great lover of music. We introduced each other to tons of music and played in a band together with Dan Kiely and Mike Musgrave. John was also my first roommate after college. We rented a crappy old first-floor apartment in Chicago about a quarter mile from Wrigley field and then moved to Bucktown a year later. We used to wake up early on game days and go to the Wrigley Field Box office at 9am when they released amazing box seats. We went to a lot of Cubs games (and always kept a scorecard). We also saw a lot of live shows, listened to a lot of records, and watched a lot of Simpson’s episodes. Those are great memories. I’m glad I had a chance to be friends and roommates with John. He will be missed.

Those were good days, Rick. John always spoke of them fondly.
