Obituary for Jeannette Adel Basnett

Jeannette A. Basnett, passed away on April 10th, 2023 in Fort Wayne. She was born in Columbus, OH on April 1, 1948 to the late Annabelle and Charles A. Fisher. She graduated from Marion Franklin High School class of 1966, then went on to Beauty College and graduated in 1968. She worked in Jerry’s Beauty Salon from 1969-1974. Jeannette worked at Russ’s Restaurant and Party Room starting in 1975 for 25 years, until it sold. She then decided to go back to school to earn her Secretarial Sciences Degree in 1986. Then Jeannette was employed at Fed Ex in Columbus, OHfor 4 years and Meijer’s Stores for 15 years.
Jeannette was a member of the Academy of Court Reporting, and a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 467and Beacon Chapter 593, Women of the Moose Columbus, OH 206, the UAW Local 969 of Columbus.
Jeannette took care of her late husband, Norman Garcia, until his passing of Parkinson’s Disease. She was a fun loving, happy, honest and loyal friend, determined worker who always provided for her children and never asked for help as she was very private and independent. She enjoyed being home with her grandchildren and playing with the dogs. She also cherished being able to hold and love on her great grandchildren.
Jeannette is survived by her daughter, Kandace A Basnett (Thomas Williams); granddaughter, Kortney A (Ryan) Rickard; great grandchildren, Amelia, Bentley, and Cali, Cory Stickles; sister, Juanita Carpenter and her children, Brandi and Mari; brother, Russelle G (Cheryl) Basnett and their children, Russelle, C.J., Teela, Johnathan, Steven and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeremee R Mattson. No services are scheduled at this time.
