Obituary for James Richard Palm

James Richard “Jim” Palm, 86, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jim was a son of the late Russell and Vivian (Orr) Palm. He graduated from North Side High School, class of 1954. Jim attended IPFW. During his working years, Jim worked for Dana Corp and Allison Transmission prior to him founding, owning, and operating Palm Engineering and Sales Inc. in 1977. Jim loved his job and continued to serve in the engineering community until 2015. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and bowling at the Elks. Jim was a lifetime member of Elks #155 and served as Trustee. Anyone who knew Jim knows that he enjoyed drinking Black Russians. Surviving are his wife, Alys Palm; children, Gail Mix, Richard (Angela)Palm, Susan (Jeff) Longbottom; grandchildren, Rachael (Blake) Graefnitz, Chase (Madison) Palm, twins Emily and Jenna Mix, Ryan Longbottom, Easton Palm; step-grandchildren, Jaren Harmon, Carson Harmon; great-grandchildren, Christine Graefnitz, Asher Graefnitz, Leo Berry; siblings, Jerry Palm, Karen Ebey, Judy Baker, Cindy (Michael) Mahler, and Jon (Carol) Palm. Jim was preceded in death by his grandson, Nelson Mix; and brother, Norman Palm. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 1 pm to 4 pm at Coyote Creek Golf Course (Former Elks Lodge), 4935 Hillegas Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46818. Memorials may be made to Choices Treatment Center in memory of Nelson Mix or Branches of Christ Ministries. FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.
