James “Jim” William Amick, 92, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. He was born to the late Guy William and Clara Irene (Pollard) Amick on August 14, 1930 in Hammond, IN. He married Dorothy Lorraine Brooke on September 1, 1956 at Covenant United Presbyterian Church in Hammond, IN. She preceded him in death. Jim graduated from Purdue University and Iowa State University with his master’s in chemistry. Before retiring he worked for Standard Oil/AMOCO in Naperville, IL and Whiting, IN. He was very active at Suburban Bible Church in Highland, IN. Jim loved fishing, gardening and hiking.

Jim is survived by his children, Ruth (Gary) Mitchell of Versailles, KY, David (Vicki) Amick of Chicago, IL, Carol (Bryan) Rasche of Rockford, MI, and Sarah (Scott) Bowles of Naples, FL and Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Heather Plunkett, Nathan Mitchell, Lynette Guerrerro, Tim Amick, Michael Sunday, Christopher Sunday, Christina Karel, Blythe Billingsley, Braeden Bowles, Bryce Bowles, Declan Bowles; great-grandchildren, Zoey Mitchell, Indie Billingsley, Ana Karel, and Wesson Karel. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Allen Amick.

A memorial service will be held at the Towne House Chapel on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 1:30 pm with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Towne House Chapel.
