Obituary for Greg Allan Warren
Greg Allan Warren of Fort Wayne, Indiana, lost his battle with heart disease on April 29, 2023.
Greg was born April 13, 1951, in Fairborn, Ohio, the second of three children of Leona and Alvin A Warren Jr.
His mom had selected the name Craig Allan for him, but due to a mix up, his name was recorded for all posterity as Greg. While his dad served in the Air Force, Greg and his family lived around the country eventually settling in Alpena in 1963.
Greg’s career began with Verizon (GTE) while still attending Alpena High School and continued his employment with Verizon upon graduating from Central Michigan University. He retired as Technical Manager 1, System Analysis Programming in Fort Wayne which allowed him to make friends across the country.
Greg had many passions including woodworking, target practice, ATV riding, horses, corgi dogs, watching old westerns, solving crossword puzzles, Nascar. He had a love of music, which included playing the guitar & singing with friends & family. His recent visit with his nephew, Joseph, brought him much joy as they listened to music and played their guitars.
He considered himself fortunate and helped others anyway he could.
Greg enjoyed his annual trip to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, supplying the music for the all night Spitzer card games.
Greg is survived by his brother, Al (Nancy), Ewen, Michigan, his sister, Laura Warren Durdik (Mark) who was by his side, providing comfort and care during his final weeks. Greg is further survived by his nephew Joseph and grand nieces Ava and Emma Warren, many cousins and friends and his special corgi, Rigby. He was calmed knowing that Rigby has a home with Deb and Tim Vanderkolk. Greg was preceded in death by both his parents.
