Obituary for Glenn Albert Kanning

Glenn A. Kanning, 87, went to his eternal home on Saturday, January 9, 2021. Born January 24, 1933 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Glenn was the son of the late Velma and Herbert Kanning. Many will remember Glenn for his friendly smile, his kind nature, and his willingness to help a friend.
Glenn first met his beloved wife Marcy in elementary school at Emmaus Lutheran School. They attended Concordia Lutheran High School together, and were married in 1954. Glenn and Marcy enjoyed a beautiful marriage bond until just twelve weeks ago, when Marcy passed away peacefully. He was truly a devoted and loving husband.
Glenn earned a Bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana University, and later, a Master’s degree from Ball State University. After serving in the U.S. Army for two years, Glenn began his career as an insurance adjustor with North American Van Lines. He then owned and operated a number of small retail and service businesses. After working several years at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, he finished his career at Thrivent Financial.
He was an active volunteer for many Lutheran organizations. He enjoyed playing golf and pickleball, and watching IU basketball on TV.
Glenn is survived by daughters, Kay Lynn (Joe) Isca of Fort Wayne and Colleen (Rick) Tatman of Tyler, Texas, as well as grandchildren, Joe (Meagan) Isca, James (Jessica) Isca, Jonathan (Nicole) Isca, Rachel Isca, Paige Tatman and Zach Tatman. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, and brothers Miles Kanning of Willowick, Ohio and Tom Kanning of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by wife, Marceil and brother, Neil Kanning.
The family is planning a private ceremony for immediate family only, with burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
