Obituary for Gale Basil VanWagner

Gale VanWagner, 77, of Fort Wayne passed away on Wednesday, February 17th at his home. Born in Kendallville to the late Basil and Lucille VanWagner. Gale retired from Advanced Machine and Tool after 25 years. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Gale especially enjoyed being the conductor of the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo Train for 5 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda; their children, Samuel, Rhonda (James) Sappenfield, and Frederick (Teri Weaver); grandchildren, Kourtney, Logann, Bray Sappenfield, Austin Dunakin, Shaylee Seth, and Noah VanWagner; sister, Bev (Tim) Shriner; brother, Paul (Karen) VanWagner; sister in law, Joan VanWagner. Gale was preceded in death by brothers, Jack and Duane. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27th at 3pm with calling from 10 am until service time, all at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 N Clinton St) Preferred memorials in Gale’s honor may be made to The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo or Parkview Home Health and Hospice.
