Obituary for Frederick Frank Jackisch

Frederick Frank Jackisch, 99, of Fort Wayne passed away on October 12, 2022. He was born on November 16, 1922 in Chicago, IL to the late Elmer and Aurora Jackisch. He studied at Concordia College, River Forest, IL, then earned a Master's Degree from Northwestern University (1950), and a Ph.D in historical musicology from Ohio State University (1966). Frederick began his life-long service to the Lutheran Church as a teacher, organist, and choir director in New Orleans in 1944, followed by Emmaus Lutheran Church and School in Fort Wayne from 1948 to 1956. He then took a position as professor and later as Dean of the School of Music at Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH, retiring in 1985. Frederick is survived by his children, Rhonda (Jeff Morsches) Jackisch of Fort Wayne, Paul (Roger Hemund) Jackisch of Tavares, FL, and Barry (Ami) Jackisch of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Emily Morsches of Romulus, MI, Jacob Azurdia of Denver, CO, Caylie (James) Simon of Indianapolis, IN and Thomas Jackisch of Fort Wayne; and great-granddaughter, Lily Simon. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Rose Ann; four sisters; and two brothers. Funeral service is 11:00 am, Tuesday October 18, 2022 at Trinity English Lutheran Church, 450 W. Washington Blvd. with calling one hour prior beginning at 10:00 am. Private family burial will take place at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the music program at Trinity English Lutheran Church.
