Obituary for David Charles Mueller

Rev. David C. Mueller,81, passed away December 29, 2020 following a brief illness. David was given life by his Creator and born on August 10, 1939 to Arthur and Gertrude (Wuerffel) Mueller in Mt. Prospect, IL. Beginning in high school, his parents sent him away for school to go through “the system” to prepare to become a Lutheran pastor. After attending high school and jr. college in Milwaukee and senior college in Ft. Wayne, he met Judith McFall during his last year of seminary in St. Louis and they were wed on July 17, 1965. David served numerous churches over his career in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Kansas before becoming a pioneer in intentional interim ministry. He then served numerous congregations from coast to coast before his retirement in October 2001. Never one to sit still, his free time was either spent behind the wheel or under one of the 35 cars he owned over his life, traveling to all 50 states with Judy over their 55 years together. In his retirement he also enjoyed singing in the choir, working on model trains, serving as a tour guide at the Allen County Courthouse, and visiting his eight grandchildren. God blessed them with three children: Rev. Mark (Bonnie) of Delmar, NY, Cathleen (Matthew) Werling of New Haven, IN, and Andrew (Christine) of Grand Rapids, MI; along with his eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Arthur. Funeral arrangements will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be sent to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1910 N Berthaud Rd, New Haven, IN 46774. Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through his servant David. FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.
