Obituary for Daryl P. Butler

Daryl Patrick Butler, 71, started on his magical mystery tour on Friday, November 20, 2020. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on August 16, 1949, he was the son of the late Rose Mary Baron and Jim Spraberry. Described as many people's "favorite" person, Daryl had his way of connecting with people. His quick wit, sly twinkle in his eye, and love of life continued until his last day. He enjoyed going to concerts, supporting his favorite local restaurants, relaxing at the lake, working on his rain garden, Notre Dame football, and at times I.U. basketball. He attended and volunteered at Come2Go Ministries and C2G Music Hall living the mission to "love people well". Daryl considered himself blessed to have received the gift of a liver transplant (thank you, Charlie!) followed by connecting with his paternal family in Texas and Louisiana in 2017. If Daryl could have given one piece of life advice it would have been to never skip dessert. (Especially anything lemon). A veteran of the US Army, his working career spanned from 1969-2012 at General Electric/GE Aircraft/Lockheed Martin/BAE Systems. He cherished the longtime friends that he made there. Daryl is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia; daughter, Erin (Daniel Flores); siblings, Dana, Debra (Rick) Schimmoller, Debbie (Randy) Mayberry, Terry (Lisa) Spraberry; in-laws, Bonnie Lepper, Dan (Julie) Lepper, and Mark (Tami) Hoffman. He greatly loved his nieces and nephews, Mark Schimmoller, Erica Schimmoller, Jordan (Molly Conner) Lepper, Daric (Katie Whetstone) Lepper, and Zephaniah Lepper. A special shout out to his lifelong friend of 57 years, Mike Trainer. Prudence and Paisley, his two cats, will miss their morning treat ritual and daily reminder to "be kind to one another". Thanks to the frontline workers who continue to care and serve those with medical needs during these crazy times; especially, Dawn Korson at IU Health Indianapolis and Kelsie, Amanda, Allison, Brittany, Nicole, and Tina at Visiting Nurse & Hospice. Private family services to be held at a later date. Please register to be an organ, tissue, and eye donor! Preferred memorials to: Angel Fund c/o Indiana Donor Network Foundation, 3760 Guion Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222. To sign the online obituary, go to www.fairhavenfortwayne.com
