Obituary for Brenda Marie Webster-Leon (Webster)

Surrounded by her loving family, Brenda Marie "MyMom" Webster-Leon held our hands as she left for Heaven on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023. She lives on in her favorite people; her grandchildren - Isaiah, Emarie, Isabelle, Olivia, Maleah, Emma, Bob Marley and Lucy and her children - Kenny (Andrea) ,Brianna (Dave) & Brittan (Matt). MyMom was also Mom to Kameron, Devin and Destanie and stepmotherto Travis and Tasha. She had been married to Richard Leon for four years. She was a mother, aunt and MyMom to countless others. So many that we could not count.

Brenda was born in New Haven, Indiana, to Kenneth Webster and Shione Hastreiter. She grew up surrounded by siblings; Belinda, Bonda, Kendra, Karla, Karena, John and Steve, Mike, Charlie, Dave and Tom. She loved to pull out photo albums and reminisce about family vacations with her siblings and cousins. Her stepfather, Jack, influenced her music choices on these long car rides. She grew to love many artists including John Denver. She spent her early adult life living, working and raising her three children in Nebraska and Colorado. She came back to surround herself with more family and a dream of a quiet farm life in the country. Her Faith in Jesus never wavered, and she brought Jesus to the table at dinner every evening and before bed. She lived a life where she didn’t have to wonder WWJD. She worked hard for everything she had - sometimes three jobs at a time- but never missed the important life events and even the small life events. She saved all year to make Christmas the most magical holiday of the year. While she worked most of her life, she did not let work define who she was. She was first and foremost a mother and then a MyMom.

As her grandchildren were born family functions shifted to her home - a place every single person was welcome. Her Love Language was the Act of Giving - and she loved each one of us well. She was giving of her time, her resources, and would surprise you with something special that you would never buy for yourself. She had the patience of a Saint when it came to children. At any point in time, you would find her playing or reading on the floor with them. Her grandkids were her heart, and she taught them everything that she could before she left.
A force to be reckoned with, she studied bee keeping, gardening, canning and crafting. She had recently started making wooden floral arrangements and loved the ease and beauty of diamond painting. Her next foray was in paper quilling which she had ready to go in her craft supplies. She wasn’t afraid to do things the long or hard way and saw difficulties as a challenge; she was a fighter.

What MyMom will be remembered for most will be hugs, her laughter, her devotion to her children and grandchildren and her steadfast faith. Her sarcasm and quick-wit humor has already been passed on and lives daily in all of us as we talk and hear her.

Visitation will be held at FairHaven Fort Wayne, Indiana on August 18th at 1:30pm to 3:30pm with a service to follow. Directly after that, per MyMom's last wishes, she wanted the longest procession ever and to disrupt traffic throughout the city. Please plan to drive separately if you have multiple cars in your family. The procession will end at Union Church in Huntington, Indiana where the children will play and there will be a gathering of food and laughter which is exactly what she would want - for people to visit with one another while the children laugh and play. She wanted her life to be celebrated without tears because "if you don't stop crying, you will give yourself a headache." So please join us in honoring her last wish with an epic procession. Be mindful of what you wear as she wants everyone to wear brightly colored clothes and be just to be happy.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to create a scholarship fund to give back to the world on an annual basis. You can make donations directly to the scholarship once the account is established or you can give to Kenny, Brianna or Brittan to deposit directly.
