On April 15, 2023, Braydin Adam Lewis, surrounded by family and friends, hung his skates up for the last time after displaying to the world the example of a true warrior. Braydin was born in Fort Wayne, IN on October 18, 2003.
Braydin began skating shortly after learning how to walk and played for several elite hockey teams including Tri State Spartans, Chicago Fury, and currently a third year defenceman for the Metro Jets Hockey Team. Braydin gained another family while with the Metro Jets organization who constantly motivated him through his last season of hockey while battling brain cancer. Braydin's heart of gold extended into the community where he had a huge passion for helping children and adults with special needs.
Braydin was able to make one last donation to the world by donating his brain to research at Mott’s Children’s Hospital Koschmann laboratories.
Braydin had a huge heart for everyone in his circle. Braydin is survived by his parents, Adam and Kristen Lewis from Angola, IN, Brother Corbin Moore from Fort Wayne, IN, Grandparents Gary and Mary Wagner of Ft. Wayne, IN, Ken and Vicki Lewis from Kincardine Ontario Canada, girlfriend Bailey Coberly of Columbus, OH, aunts, uncles and cousins, and several best friends and teammates.
In lieu of flowers, Braydin would like donations to be made to Carroll High School Champions Together (sports program for kids with disabilities), checks payable to Carroll High School.
A celebration of life will be on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Pathway Community Church, 1010 Carroll Road, Fort Wayne, IN at 5:00pm, with memorial visitation beginning at 4 pm. To honor Braydin and his love for hockey, please wear your favorite team jersey or sports apparel.
