Betty L. Yockey, 87, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022. Born in Plymouth, Indiana, Betty was the daughter of the late Ford and Hazel (Newman) Burns. In 1955, she married her husband, Merle, who preceded her in death on April 29th, 2020.
Betty was a faithful member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. She enjoyed following her grandchildren and great grandchildren in their various band and sporting events. You could often find her curled up with a good book, doing various crossword puzzles or watching her favorite reruns of Murder She Wrote in the wee hours of the morning. She also enjoyed keeping in touch with her friends from her work in the vice-chancellor’s office at IPFW.
Surviving are her daughter Cindy (Todd) Hixson, twin sister Mary Sue (Willis) Burroughs, sister Peggy (Del) Fast, grandchildren Kelly (Bill) Alter, Joe (Erica) Klee, Tyler (Breeanna) Klee, Corrie (John) Silcox, Robb (Lauren) Hixson and Cassie Hixson, and 11 great grandchildren with one on the way. Betty was preceded in death by 4 great grandchildren. Betty’s Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm on Friday, October 28th at FairHaven Funeral Home, 6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN with calling 2 hours prior beginning at 11am.
