Obituary for Betty Anne Garcia (Garcia)

Betty Anne Garcia, age 69, went home to be with her Lord on January 1, 2023, while she was at Parkview Randallia Hospice surrounded by loving family. Betty was born January 19, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, to John Perez and Helen (Clark) Garcia who preceded her in death. She graduated from Hillsdale High School, in Hillsdale, Michigan, in 1971 and attended business school in Ypsilanti, worked as a patient care tech, a ward clerk and for 38 years as a medical secretary. Betty was an active member of the Merritt Road Church of the Nazarene in Ypsilanti, Michigan, for 25 years, participating as board member and church janitor. Since moving to Indiana four years ago, she has been attending Emmanuel Community Church in Fort Wayne where she enjoyed making new friends especially those through coffee connection organized by Jan Clark. Her hobbies included painting, baking and other crafts. Her favorite activities were family get-togethers and following the University of Michigan football team. Betty is survived by her siblings: John (Debbie) Garcia, Carolyn Garcia, Jim (Linda) Garcia, Jean (Wes) Bell, Jerry (Jeanine) Garcia, and Peter Garcia. She is also survived by 20 nieces and nephews, 32 great nieces and nephews, and 4 great-great nieces and nephews. They all thought highly of their Aunt Betty and enjoyed her good sense of humor and homemade treats. Other people who preceded her in death were sister-in –law Donna Garcia, and long-time friend Ron Brown. In spite of confronting many heath challenges during the last year of her life, Betty maintained her faith in Jesus her Savior and finished well. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, January 4, 2022 at the Branch, 7227 Bittersweet Moors Drive, Fort Wayne, IN 46814, with calling one hour prior, the Rev. Gary Dilley officiating. FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.
