Barbara “Joan” Richter, 78, of rural Auburn, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022. Born in Decatur, Indiana, Joan was a daughter of the late Calvin “Coolidge” and Rema (Shady) McKean. She was united in marriage to Stanley R. Richter on December 7, 1963. She worked the majority of her life as a homemaker. Joan also worked for Lincoln National Bank, Midwest American Federal Credit Union, and Scott’s Floral Shop. She was a member of Altarstar United Methodist Church where she served as chairman of the Ad Council for 20 years and as chairman of Missions Committee for several years. Joan loved to support all her grandchildren. Her first priority was her family. She and Stanley enjoyed going to WDW and Las Vegas. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Stanley; son, Michael (LeeAnn) Richter; grandchildren, Mitchell (Chelsea) Richter, Zachary (Brittni) Richter; great-grandchildren, Michael and Penny; and brother, Gene (Sandy) McKean. Joan was preceded in death by two brothers in infancy; sisters, Shirley (in infancy), Evelyn Weber; and grandchildren, Melinda and Eric. Service is 1:00 pm, Monday, December 19, 2022 at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. with calling two hours prior beginning at 11:00 am. Burial at Eel River Cemetery.
