Obituary for Alexander Dmitry Frese

Alexander Dmitry Frese, age 20, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, in Austin, Texas. Alex was born on May 10, 2002, in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and was adopted at 13 months by his extremely thankful parents. His father’s pastoral and military career took Alex to Wisconsin, Germany, and Kansas during his early years, after which the family settled in Fort Wayne for the majority of his childhood. He is survived by his parents, Pastor and Chaplain (LtCol) Michael and Janet Frese, siblings Nadia (16) and Gabriel (13), grandparents Jerry and Brenda Frese and Alan and Linda Tate, and many extended family members.

Alex was loyal, hardworking, smart, witty, entrepreneurial, an accomplished swimmer, an avid traveler, and a beloved friend, brother, son, and grandson. From the age of 11 he spent countless hours at the natatorium and countless hours behind a mower, building a successful landscaping business that he would then pass down to his brother. Together the family enjoyed attending Philharmonic concerts, eating at ethnic restaurants, mountain biking, and traveling. Alex will be sorely missed by his loving family, friends, brothers and sisters in Christ, and members of the recovery community in both Fort Wayne and Austin. Most importantly, Alex was a baptized child of God who, despite his recent struggles, continued to confess his belief in God’s mercy and love for him. Although he lost his earthly battle against addiction, he is now no longer suffering and is at peace with his Savior, Jesus Christ: "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live" (John 11:25).

The funeral service will be on Monday, November 7, 2022, at 11:00 am at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 202 W. Rudisill Blvd., Fort Wayne, Indiana, with visitation one hour prior. There will also be visitation on Sunday, November 6, 2002, at the church from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Burial will follow the service. Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
